چکیده

Introduction: Radiation lobectomy (RL) is defined as the transarterial administration of high-dose radioactive microspheres to liver malignancies with intent inducing ipsilateral tumor ablation and contralateral hypertrophy. The biological characteristics therapy surviving cells their microenvironment remain unstudied. Methods: Fourteen patients received RL, which colorectal metastasis group (n = 5 90Y, n 2 166H-microspheres) analyzed here. All metastases 27) were selected from surgical pathology files. H&E IHC stains markers Ki67, CAIX, Olfm4 CD45 performed. A machine learning scoring protocol was established classify non-tumor allow unbiased quantification staining intensities (Fig. 1A). Mandard regression grades scored 1B) matched tumor-absorbed dose determined on post-treatment PET/CT. Results: Metastases that at least 60 Gy (90Y) regressed robustly, while lower portended variable response 1C). Dose positively correlated hypoxia proliferation, negatively stem cell-ness cellular immune infiltrates. Perinecrotic highly hypoxic cell-like, but not proliferative 1D). Non-responsive lesions (regression grade 5) contained large numbers cancer Conclusion: Tumor-absorbed an important determinant response, radiation-induced may lead aggressive behavior. These data augment our understanding (non) radio-responsiveness aid further evolution RL in combination strategies aimed curing hepatic malignancies.

Lung Cancer Cells That Survive Ionizing Radiation Show Increased Integrin α2β1- and EGFR-Dependent Invasiveness

Ionizing radiation (IR)-enhanced tumor invasiveness is emerging as a contributor to the limited benefit of radiotherapy; however, its mechanism is still unclear. We previously showed that subcloned lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells (P cells), which survived 10 Gy IR (IR cells), acquired high invasiveness in vitro. Here, we tried to identify the mechanism by which IR cells increase their invasivene...

Cancer cells that survive radiation therapy acquire HIF-1 activity and translocate towards tumour blood vessels

Tumour recurrence frequently occurs after radiotherapy, but the characteristics, intratumoural localization and post-irradiation behaviour of radioresistant cancer cells remain largely unknown. Here we develop a sophisticated strategy to track the post-irradiation fate of the cells, which exist in perinecrotic regions at the time of radiation. Although the perinecrotic tumour cells are original...

[Radiation-induces increased tumor cell aggressiveness of tumors of the glioblastomas?].

Glioblastoma multiform is the most common and aggressive brain tumor with a worse prognostic. Ionizing radiation is a cornerstone in the treatment of glioblastome with chemo-radiation association being the actual standard. As a paradoxal effect, it has been suggested that radiotherapy could have a deleterious effect on local recurrence of cancer. In vivo studies have studied the effect of radio...

Attacking malignant cells that survive therapy

We have recently defined "immunogenic modulation," a mechanism whereby malignant cells that survive anticancer therapy, due to sublethal delivery or development of treatment resistance, become nonetheless more sensitive to killing by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. This mechanism can be exploited to identify which therapies will best synergize with immunotherapy, potentially maximizing patient clinica...
